Beginning of October

Leona had multiple opportunities to represent the Hebron Valley 5th grade in October. The top photo was her reading to her reading buddy in a lower grade. This year has really marked a change in reading for Leona. She is reading on her grade level and is reading chapter books for pleasure. Leona has worked so incredibly hard and diligently to make it to this milestone. With the help of her dyslexia teachers she has come a long way in just a few years!

The photos below are from the Hebron Valley Elementary float in the Hebron High School Homecoming Parade. There were a lot of fun floats, and tons of candy was thrown, as always. Leona had a wonderful time riding the float with some of her new and old friends at HVE.

An example of Leona's evolving artistic style.

Speaking of artistic style, there was a talent night at PAG and Leona played her accordion. Playing the accordion is such a fun talent to have!

Continuing the artistic stylings of Leona, she along with Tim and Clara staged quite the Barbie production. It was a little eerie walking into the game room for several days because of the silent rock show tableau that awaited you.

September

Grandma Cole took Tim and Leona to go look at Halloween decor with Veronica and Theo. Leona was a very sweet older sister and held Tim's hand when he got too creeped out.

From this post it will look like we eat at Braum's all the time, but really we don't. Collin was out of town for work, Eliza was off with the band, and the four of us didn't feel like eating at the house, so we went to Braums.

At school there was a spirit day where you dressed as your favorite book/movie/Disney character, I can't remember what the theme was. Tim was Sher Khan from "Junglebook" and Leona was Disgust from "Inside Out."

Disgust above, and recreation of Disgust below.

Leona with her soccer team, formerly known as the Pink Unicorns, currently rebranding as the Legend.

I love this self portrait that Leona did in dominos! It's such a creative medium to use! Leona is such a creative and skilled artist, I am constantly impressed with her innovation!
At Tim's bday party.

Tim, thrilled with the gift Leona gave him, of maps.

This was on Tim's birthday. He wanted to eat Braums for his birthday dinner. Normally I would've said, no it has to be a meal that you pick and we make at home, but his birthday was jam packed with soccer, his birthday party, and then a family apple party at Uncle Tutu's house so Braums was all we had time for. He was thrilled. Eliza was off with the band and therefore not pictured.

Rest of August

Random group selfie, during the portion of the year, when Eliza didn't live at home because of marching band.

I walked into the kitchen to hear Leona singing "Love One Another." Then I heard Tim yell, in a passable imitation of the Man in Black, "Death First!"

Back to School 5th Grade, New School, Hebron Valley Elementary!!!

Leona took this photo with Ms. Shipley, her homeroom teacher, at the back-to-school night before the beginning of school. Leona was a little nervous about starting at a new school, but ultimately, she has been glad that she made the change.

First Day of 5th Grade
Teacher: Ms. Shipley
Favorite Colors: Light Pink and Sage Green
Favorite Food: French Dip Sandwiches

"It's so easy to make friends at my new school!" Quote from Leona after the first day of school.

Beginning of August

Great Grandpa Roueche turned 99, and we were there to celebrate with him and other extended family. It was a fun mini-reunion and Uncle Pedro's cakes were delicious as usual.

Random eyebrow selfie that I found on my phone.

Collin, Leona, and Tim went to a rodeo with some of the other cousins and family. They enjoyed the snacks, hanging with cousins, and making it on the jumbotron.

Clearly Leona enjoyed this experience more than Sasha did.

Cousin finale for the summer, lots of swimming and snow cones that melted as soon as they hit the 100+ air outside of Bahama Bucks. It was hard for everyone to say goodbye to the Caldwells.

Second Half of July

To finish out the summer the kids had a whirlwind of final activities. The cousins went to a FC Dallas game, and Bernhisels invited us and some other friends from the ward to go boating with them. Everybody had a great time, even if Tim refused to actually ride anything. He did enjoy swimming in the lake.

This was a random Barbie tableau that we found in our bed. Yes that is McGonagall and Dumbledore dressed as teens in our bed.
