Leona's First Christmas

Leona had a good time at Christmas.  She had fun grabbing things and playing with wrapping paper.  As with all babies she didn't seem too into the gifts that she was given but she had a good time over all.

These might not seem like very impressive photos but they happen to be the only photos taken of Christmas morning.  Maybe I'll do better next year.

Catching Up 10 months Old

Words

Leona can say: hi/bye (it's sort of an aloha thing where she says "aye" and waves for both occasions), mom (said only rarely), dad, dog (Always said with much enthusiasm and in multiples), cat (with how many cats in the neighborhood she had to differentiate between the two animals), and please (said as a hiss with an occasional p sound at the beginning).

Both sisters have also claimed to have heard her say their names on various occasions and Gma Cole has corroborated the story although I haven't heard it yet. 

Walking

Leona officially entered the world of bipeds about 3 weeks ago. She started taking multiple steps together about a week and a half before she turned 15 months and by her doctor's checkup in the 11th she was favoring walking over her gorilla scoot, unless she had to get somewhere really fast. 

Now she walks almost exclusively, although she does still have the gait of a sailor trying to get his sea legs under him. It's really cute and she's so proud of herself which is also adorable. 

Finally!

Leona has been saying "Dada" for months now but just now right before bed she finally said "Mama"!

She's been saying dada but not mama for so long now that the girls play a game where one of them pretends to be Leona and the other one says, "Say mama." And "Leona" says "dada" and then they laugh like maniacs.
