Leona's Hospital Adventure
This post thankfully has a happy ending. Leona was doing this thing that looked like seizures, eyes rolling arms shooting out, very disconcerting. We videoed it and went from her pediatrician to a neurologist. Then talked to Auntie Mel's bishop (who's the head pediatric neurologist at a top tier pediatric hospital in Cincinnati) who pulled some strings and got us in to the pediatric hospital here and alerted the top pediatric neurologist here to Leona's case.

Leona got an IV, an eeg, and a brain mri. It was all pretty scary, for us at least. Leona was everybody's favorite patient. She was so sweet and cute and smiley. You never would've know all that she was being subjected to.
The tech who was doing her eeg (pictured below)told us that every time she has a difficult patient she would remember sweet Leona who just smiled at her while she hooked up all of the electrodes.
The scariest part at least for me was the Brain MRI, which Leona had to be sedated for. They gave her a shot of something in her iv and she looked like a dead baby, it was horrible. We were very thankful that we got to be with her right up until they took her in to the MRI room and then immediately afterwards we could be with her until she woke up. It was so wonderful to see a huge, albeit a bit drunken, smile come across her face when she woke up.
The best part is that they essentially diagnosed her with acid reflux. Not seizures, which was wonderful We feel so incredibly blessed that she is alright and has suffered no brain damage.

First Tooth
I don't have a photo to go with this post either but I will try to get one at some point. On January 26th Leona finally got a tooth through those thick gums in her mouth. It is the bottom middle one on her right. The reason that I don't have a photo is that she cries anytime I try to show someone her tooth. Since that is really the only time that she cries, unless she gets hurt, I feel the need to respect her right for privacy for her tooth. The other bottom middle tooth is still not through, although for a couple days we thought it was.
First Word
Soooo I have a LOT of catching up to do on this blog but before I forget I want to write in real time that Leona is saying her first word. That word is "stop".
She actually started this a few days ago but I wasn't sure. Tonight at dinner I was telling some sister or the other to stop some shenanigans or the other and Pony started saying, "top" when I said stop. Some people are unconvinced that that's what she's saying but she only says it when I'm saying stop so I think she is copying. What a funny first word!
Halloween
I'm sure that 20 years from now the cultural reference of these costumes will be lost. Well it'll still be obvious that Clara was Rapunzal but the "Frozen" fanaticism (I hope) will have passed. Eliza was dressed as Anna from Frozen and Leona was her sidekick, Olaf. As you can see she was thrilled to be a boy snowman.
