Aunt Cambrie and Uncle Bryce kicked off our summer by getting here around midnight on the last day of school. We did as many fun things with them as we possibly could in the long weekend that they were here. We took them to Olympic Beach in Edmonds to see sea creatures. We were finally able to locate some sea stars and anemones for them to see and then Aunt Cambrie spotted a bonus- a seal swimming around close to where we were all hunting for sea stars. We also went to Pikes Place Market and got piroshkys, which Uncle Bryce declared somewhat authentic Russian pastries. Namely the ones with potatoes and onions in them were authentic but the ones with Nutella in them, not so much. No big surprise there. :) We also went on the Franklin Falls hike with them, which was fun and really beautiful. Leona was thrilled to have her carrying buddy back with her on hikes. When Uncle Bryce isn't around she has to actually walk herself around on the hikes.
It was super fun to be back hanging out with Cambrie and Bryce since we've missed them since moving away. The grownups played games after bed and got caught up and the kids attacked Uncle Bryce constantly during the day. Aunt Cambrie got a little speech therapy time in with the littler girls while they were here too and Clara's R's have never sounded so good. Leona has also latched on to the new improved pronunciation and has taken to shouting "Rambutan" (the spiky tropical fruit that we like to get at the market, similar to a lychee fruit) in this hilarious Muppet style voice that she seems to think is following pronunciation best practices. We are already looking forward to when we can see them again.
