The Rest of Christmas Vacation

The rest of Christmas vacation was pretty low key. We hung out with cousins, aunts, and uncles and relaxed. We went to the roller rink- which I don't think has been redone since I went there as a kid. Leona was an animal. She rigorously practiced the scissor in and out skating technique that I showed her the entire two hours that we were there. Other people took breaks, not Leona. She fell down several times, but each time she got right back up and kept practicing. She is one tenacious kid!

On New Year's Eve we all went to the Caldwell's for food, games, and a (sort of) polar bear plunge. The kids hopped back and forth between the pool and the hot tub. Eliza and Clara stayed up until midnight for the first time. Leona and Timothy celebrated kidnight with everyone around 10 and then went to bed. I'm pretty sure that Clara didn't think staying up was worth it. Eliza on the other hand ended up staying up until close to 2am because we brought Lily and Junie home with us (around 1am) and they stayed up chatting for another hour.

To kick off 2022 we went hiking on New Year's Day. It was a nicer hike than the previous one that we went on. Clara even agreed that there was enough "up and down" to qualify as a hike. Usually here she tells us that we've only been on a walk, not a hike, because it was level ground the whole time.

Leona chopped her hair off over break. It wasn't quite long enough to donate, but it was a lot of hair to be sure. She looks so much older now that she has shorter hair!
