Spring Break in Arkansas

For Spring Break we went to Arkansas. The fact that none of us had ever been there was the impetus for the trip, but after we started planning we quickly realized there was a lot to do there. We started our trip by digging for diamonds at Diamond Crater State Park. We didn't find any diamonds, but we did have fun digging. It had rained quite a bit earlier on in the week so the fields were VERY muddy. The three youngest spent most of their time digging a trench that then became a canal. We knew it was time to leave when Tim fell in and was soaked in muddy water up to his armpits.

The rest of the short trip we spent hiking around Mt. Magazine and relaxing at our air bnb in Ratcliff, Arkansas. We entertained ourselves on the hike by playing "I'm taking a trip to Africa and with me I will bring..." and the list game. It was very relaxing and very rural. We had Thai food one night, which was a revelation for the kids. They all liked it. The other night we ate at "The best (and only) pizza parlor in town" and it was... not great, worse than cafeteria or frozen pizza to be precise. But, it's not every day that you get to visit Paris (Arkansas) and see the Eiffel tower so over all the trip was a roaring success.
