Outdoors Adventures

Since the stay at home order has been lifted we are trying to get out as much as the (sometimes still crummy) weather allows. We went to the beach with the Calls (above) for the super low tide on June 20th. There were tons of creatures available for inspection. Several different crabs were everybody's favorite. They were everywhere, especially under rocks.  They always remind me of marine spiders- but I'd rather pick a crab up.

We also went kayaking with the Rices, which was super fun! We worked hard to get those kayaks over to the part of the lake that we wanted to set up camp in. The parking lots to get to Magnuson Park, along the shore of Lake Washington, were still mostly closed thanks to Covid-19. (And yet the bars and gyms were open. *Eyeroll*) It was worth the hard work though. As soon as we got to our piece of the lake's edge, literally seconds after arriving, Timothy ran straight into the lake. That meant that I ran straight into the lake to grab him out. He was sufficiently chastened by that experience and stayed out of the water for the rest of our time there.

The girls all took turns kayaking, Eliza and Clara both loved it. They both did really great and had it figured out in no time. They paddled around happily every time it was their turn. Leona was a little nervous. She went with Eliza since I had to stick around close to little Mr. No Fear at that point. Leona didn't love it and spent most of her time at the lake throwing rocks to the ducks with Gabe and giggling like maniacs when the ducks thought the pebbles were bread crumbs. Timothy also spent his time trying to throw all of the rocks on the shore into the lake. It was a beautiful day, and we had so much fun. Another fun adventure brought to us by the Rices.
