Leona chose a Harry Potter themed party for her birthday. While a few components were repeats of Eliza's birthday party (painting wands, pin the scar on Harry Potter, a scavenger hunt, and cupcakes that double as the sorting hat) there were some changes. One was that the scavenger hunt changed. Another was the addition of painting Harry Potter pictures. Leona insisted on having multiple painting activities, which at first I thought might not be a very good activity with boys and girls at the party, but Leona has chosen her friends well as everyone had a good time doing the things that she likes. Lastly the flavors were changed for the cupcakes and they were better than ever.
Everyone had a good time and it was fun to get to meet some of her friends from school, who we've been hearing about all year, but hadn't yet met. Allie and Amari are from her class. Her other school buddy Emma was planning to come but got sick with a stomach bug and spent the party in the ER. She's ok now though.
On Leona's actual birthday she picked waffles for dinner, we all sang to her, and she got to open presents. Leona is such a charismatic, sweet, silly, creative girl. She is constantly amazing us with her tenacity and creativity. We are so glad to have her in our family!
