Grandma Cole Comes to Visit

We had lots of fun showing Grandma Cole, and ourselves, the sights of Seattle when she came to visit us at the beginning of August.  We went on a ferry ride to Kingston.  The girls were less impressed with the ferry ride than Gma Cole and I were. We really enjoyed it, even though the girls got bored quickly with it.  Leona gamely pointed out the seaweed that we saw along the way.  And no, Clara is not a contortionist who can turn her head all the way around.  She went through a phase this summer where she couldn't handle any decoration of any kind on the front of her shirts so she wore shirts backwards.  Before school started I bought her several unadorned shirts so that she wouldn't be that kid in the class but during the summer months we didn't mind backwards clothes.  Clara and Eliza also got to have Grandma attend their last ballet classes.

We took Grandma to the beach, which was perfect and relaxing and beautiful.  We took her on a hike and showed her our favorite blackberry patches around town.  We even managed to pick enough blackberries to make a cobbler, which was super delicious! It was a very enjoyable visit for everybody.  Our goal was to make her want to come back and visit us and I think we achieved that.
