The kids acted like it was freezing, but it was actually about 65 degrees- or in other words summer in Seattle. Timothy ended up being sick, with a fever so he was the only legitimate complainer and he was very stoic in the photos. Eliza was suffering from hypothermia and couldn't be in this photo.
