For her 7th birthday Leona got the gift of pierced ears. However since she was going to be playing soccer she couldn't get them pierced until after soccer season since she would have had to remove the earrings for games, which isn't allowed for the first several months. Finally soccer season ended and the very next Saturday we went to get her ears pierced. She went with Gma Cole, Eliza, Clara, and me to get them done.
At first we thought she was going to have to get them done one at a time, the way I got mine pierced as a five year old. After I got my first ear pierced I got down off the chair and it took a lot of coaxing and convincing on the part of my mom and Gma Hatch (who'd gotten her ears pierced right before me) to get me back up in the chair for the other one. Thankfully another lady showed up for work right then and they were able to do both of Leona's at once. Leona was very brave, she didn't cry at all, and she picked lovely light blue crystals for her earrings. She looks very elegant and grown up with her pierced ears.
